Clay Soil is a 5-species native wildflower collection designed for gardens where heavy, compacted, or seasonally wet soils make planting a challenge. Rather than fighting clay, this collection works with it, featuring deep-rooted natives that tolerate dense soils, improve structure over time, and thrive where many ornamentals fail.

All seeds are individually packaged, allowing you to plant intentionally across wetter pockets, low spots, or broad clay-heavy areas.

What’s inside

  • Asclepias incarnata (Swamp Milkweed) – Monarch host plant that thrives in moisture-retentive soils

  • Eupatorium perfoliatum (Boneset) – Tall, resilient native supporting mid to late-season pollinators

  • Solidago canadensis (Canada Goldenrod) – High-value fall-blooming pollinator plant that builds biomass and soil life

  • Symphyotrichum novae-angliae (New England Aster) – Essential fall nectar supporting migratory and overwintering insects

  • Verbena hastata (Blue Vervain) – Elegant spires loved by bees and butterflies, tolerant of wet clay

Designed for problem soils

These species are ideal for yards with poor drainage, compacted subsoil, roadside edges, rain-adjacent areas, or places where water lingers after storms. Over time, their roots help open clay, increase organic matter, and support healthier soil communities.

Seven-generational thinking

Clay soils are often dismissed, filled, or scraped away. This collection takes the opposite approach: plant long-lived natives that heal the soil in place. As roots decay and reseeding occurs, the land becomes more breathable, more alive, and more resilient for future plantings, pollinators, and people.

Best for gardeners who want to turn difficult ground into functioning habitat, guided by patience, reciprocity, and trust in native systems.
