Big Monarch Garden is a 5-species native wildflower collection designed to support Monarch butterflies in Ontario and Quebec across their full life cycle, from early spring through late fall. This collection provides both nectar sources for adult Monarchs and critical host plants for caterpillars, creating a complete habitat rather than a single-season food stop.
Each species is individually packaged, allowing you to plant thoughtfully across larger spaces or stagger sowing to shape a resilient, layered garden over time.
What’s inside
-
Anemonastrum canadense – Early-season blooms that help kickstart spring pollinator activity
-
Asclepias syriaca (Common Milkweed) – Essential Monarch host plant for egg-laying and caterpillars
-
Monarda fistulosa (Wild Bergamot) – High-value summer nectar loved by butterflies and native bees
-
Pycnanthemum virginianum (Mountain Mint) – Exceptionally pollinator-dense mid-season blooms
-
Symphyotrichum novae-angliae (New England Aster) – Vital late-season nectar supporting fall migration
Designed for space and succession
This is a big garden collection. All included species are vigorous natives that naturally spread over time, making this collection best suited for larger gardens, meadow edges, restoration areas, or land where ecological function matters more than strict formality.
Seven-generational thinking
By planting species that establish, spread, and return year after year, this collection invests in future Monarch populations, healthier soils, and living seed banks that persist long after the initial planting. It supports not just today’s pollinators, but those yet to come, creating continuity.
Ideal for gardeners who want to move beyond symbolic pollinator support and toward real, lasting habitat creation.
